Berkeley Insurance Group Logo
We are privileged to house one of the few professional indemnity teams outside London.
This ensures that highly specialist advice provides unique protection to our professional clients.

For a number of professionals there are regulatory and institute compliance issues surrounding the placement of their insurance. These include Accountants, Architects, Solicitors, and Surveyors. We are fully conversant with all of these requirements and will ensure that cover provided is appropriate.
Accountants

As a regulated profession the provision of professional indemnity cover is governed by compliance with the Institute conditions but this should be seen as the minimum requirement.

Through our close working relationship with underwriters, we can offer additional policy benefits and enhanced protection.

In addition, we can provide cover for areas usually excluded from a standard professional indemnity policy, such as criminal charges faced by partners individually or other issues arising from the “Office” of Auditor.

Our particular expertise in accountants’ professional indemnity lies in advising provincial practices, although we do act for a small number of firms located in the West End of London.
Architects

In addition to our involvement in major construction projects we have significant experience in acting for architectural practices in arranging their professional indemnity cover.

Through our specialist markets we offer enhanced wordings that extend far beyond the Architect’s Registration Board requirements and provide practices with realistic coverage on a competitive basis.

Contractual reviews and collateral warranties advice can be provided in-house and our team includes a qualified barrister, which can make a significant difference both in negotiating extended coverage and advising upon liability.

Solicitors

The Berkeley Insurance Group have always provided insurance for solicitors, be that excess cover during the solicitors indemnity fund, or managing the transition to open market placement. We now act for a wide variety of firms but each benefit from our strong market position and specialist advice.

Employing an in-house barrister and accredited Lexcel consultant gives us a significant advantage, both in advising on risk management and in negotiating often exclusive terms with underwriters.
Surveyors

Many brokers fail to understand the significant diversity of the RICS membership and are therefore unable to arrange appropriate cover beyond the Institute required wording.

As a member of the RICS broker panel and acting for practices across the full range of faculties, Berkeley Insurance Group’s Professional Indemnity team have a proven track record in this area.
Non-regulated Professions

For many professionals there are no regulatory requirements for professional indemnity insurance.

This can make it difficult to assess what cover is required and can lead to uncertainty in respect of the policy wordings available.

Our specialist team act for a wide range of professionals and will guide you through this process. This will result in the correct cover at an appropriate premium.
